Tired, but very happy - Drumline Competition
I have to say this past weekend was a really busy one. Friday was all day rehearsal at Mission High School. The drum line had their final competition on Saturday, so we had that one last day to clean things up. Then Saturday morning was the early morning wake up call, getting up at 5 AM to arrive in Fremont at 6 AM. The show was in Stockton, so we had to leave quite early to get up there in time.
We did a nice two hour rehearsal before we performed adding some more visuals and excitement to the show. I was really excited and nervous for the students, in the past performances something had been lacking. Some of it was visuals, some was playing, but mostly it was missing attitude. During this performance the students finally pulled out the attitude for the crowd, and it worked!!!
They played their asses off, pushed the level of performance to a new place from the past shows. All this payed off, their over all scored raised by almost 4 points and the group ended up in 3rd place. I am really really proud of them for all their hard work and participation. Every year these students amaze me!
So... I am HAPPY!!! (But now I need a nap)
