Starry Plough 8/29/09

Well, we rocked the Starry Plough. We did it punk rock style, with just a trio. Audie was camping so we played without him. It was a good show, but I don't think we were "jammy" enough for the crowd. The band before us was a crowd pleaser for sure. They jammed and covered Don't Let Me Down by the Beatles, always a hit. I am not saying it was a bad show, I just think the crowd wanted more jamming. What can I say, we aren't a jam band.

Anyhow, see you at the next one.

Busy Weeks... 3 (scroll down for 1 and 2)

Ok, after getting home at 5 AM, I slept for about 5 hours, got up, did some stuff and drove up to Sacramento to play with Farewell Typewriter. We were performing for a couple hours in the Midtown area, in front of Crepeville. It was for an events called 2nd Saturday. There were tons of people out, it was really warm and very fun. We got done and I drove home, getting into bed around 1:30 AM.

I taught some lessons the day after that, Sunday. Then Monday night Farewell Typewriter rocked The Elbo Room in San Francisco. This was a rad show, tons of people dancing, drinking, buying our CD's. It was a really fun party.

Ok, last thing was just last night. Park St. Trio, my very awesome jazz trio played at Speisekammer, a German Restaurant in Alameda. We played for about 3 and a half hours. A bunch of our friends and family were there, it was a really fun evening. Plus, you can't beat free German beer.

Well, as you can see I have been extremely busy. Now, I think I will calm down a little. The next thing on the books is Band Camp at Mission High School and Farewell Typewriter at the Starry Plough in Berkeley on August 29th. Then recording with Farewell Typewriter in September.

Fun times! STEVe

Busy weeks... 2

So, after that weekend I had agreed to play one more show with Claymation Horror Show, which by the way, you should check out their site at: Claymation Horror Show. This next show was in Fresno, which was fine with me because I was already going to be in Las Vegas for my brothers 30th birthday party. So, on the way home we stopped in Fresno to play the show. The band was supposed to go on at 9:30 or 10:00, which would have been good since my brothers and I had to drive home to the Bay that night. Well, as with most rock shows, things did not go as planned. The band ended up playing last at 12:30 AM. We played for about 45 minutes, did an encore, took pictures with the fans... And my brothers and I finally got out to there around 1:45 AM. We arrived back in The Bay at 4:00 AM, at which point I had to pack up my other drums set for a show in Sacramento that night...

Busy weeks...

WOW!!! It has been a crazy couple of weeks. How do I begin...

Well, the drummer in Claymation Horror Show quit and I was asked to sit in for a couple of shows. One of the shows happen to be the same night as my last Twisted Lister show at Pay Pal. That show was at 3 in the afternoon, so I figured I could make it to the City in time to play at The Retox lounge with Claymation. We had one rehearsal before the show. It went well so I was feeling good about playing with them. I played the Twisted Lister gig, which went very well. Drove up and got there just in time to set up my drums and play another show. It was a great day!
