Amendola Vs. Blades

Last night I went out to the Coda Club in San Francisco to see Scott Amendola and Wil Blades play. Wil Blades plays a really sick B3 organ and Scott plays drums. They do this duo thing that is super cool. Playing songs they wrote as well as standards that they have arranged. My favorite of the night was probably Seven Steps To Heaven, by Miles Davis. Super fast song, with tons of breaks and hits. Rarely do I see a jazz group take that song on, but these guys tore it up.

I also found out that my friends Graham and Janet are engaged now, so that was super cool. Soon they will be allowed to join us at the married only parties.

Ok, this morning I stumbled upon this video of Buddy Rich. I had never seen this before. He explains why he thinks match grip isn't as good as traditional grip. There is also a funny part of his solo toward the end. Enjoy...

Gigs...

So, with my baby fast approaching his birth date I have been playing a crap load of shows. Last Saturday I played for 5 hours at Rosenblum Winery with Park St. Trio. It was cool, the crowd really dug us and we were able to let it loose a little more than last time. Directly after that, I booked it down to Santa Clara for an acoustic show with Farewell Typewriter at Barefoot Coffee Roasters. This was an art show, very cool stuff from our friend Lara. You can check out her stuff at: http://www.larasophia.com/

This coming weekend Farewell Typewriter will be up in Yosemite rocking out at The Evergreen Lodge. This show is always a party, we play for hours and people dance all night.

Plenty of other shows coming, check my calendar. After December 9th I am out for a while. So, come check out a show or two before then.
