Recording!!!
Yo, just finished up a weekend of recording with Farewell Typewriter. We headed up to Sacramento for this record. We spent 3 full days at The Hangar, with Bryce Gonzales as our engineer. Read more about him here:Self Imposed Boundries It was an incredible time.
First day, we get up there and set up all our stuff. Drums get mic'd up, sounds get dialed in really fast and we start with basic tracks. We rip through our material super fast. We expected to do 6 songs, but we got through 8. It was great. The drum tones are amazing and super solid. The guitar is crunchy and rad, the bass is clean.
The second day we got to add all the extra stuff in. Other guitar parts, bass parts, keyboards, vibraphone, bells... I got to play Rhodes, vibraphone and drums. All the added instruments make the album sound super huge.
Third day was percussion and vocals. We were in the B room at the Hangar, much smaller room, better for vocals. I got to sing on this record, first time ever for me. We added tambourine, shaker and other stuff. Then the lead vocals were recorded, along with other harmonies.
Album is close to being done, but still needs another day of vocals. It's going to sound great. The songs are fun and the sounds quality is amazing.
There is plenty of video to compile from the recording session, so look for that. And look for this album to be out around December!
